Posted to the Alexander Palace Time Machine Discussion Forum by Svetabel on 27 April 2011. The sepia tone was removed and the image was heavily spotted throughout so these had to be removed with Photoshop. The background was also treated by blurring with Photoshop, but not Marie or her dress. The same image was re-posted on 10 August 2016 after enlarging by half.
Marie wears a columnar middle-later 1870s dress with a tablier, basically a longer version of a cuirasse bodice, in this photo that is bordered by a piped ridge. This is a textbook example of a short tablier.
