ca. 1605 Anne of Denmark by John de Critz (Weiss Gallery)

From the Weiss Gallery.

Beehive hairdos were popular in the 1960s, an era that prized novelty, but this portrait of Anne of Denmark shows beehives were not new. The lacework is very close to that seen in the last image while her sleeves emerge from round annuli that are neither tabbed nor rolled. Her dress and sleeves not as extensively slashed as the one seen in the last image and may not be slashed at all.
