Mary, Queen of Scots by ? (location ?)

The lace is not typical for the lace of Mary’s time so this may be a posthumous portrait.

The portrait is in a tromp l’oeil frame, made apparent by the white splotches visible in the lower left corner and both edges changed to dark grey with Photoshop.

From; fixed the left and right edges and both lower corners with Photoshop. At the time this was posted, the site no longer displayed images. I hope this is not the result of the renewing Cold War.

Mary’s dress is made with gold thread against a black backgrounf woven in geometric and vegetale patterns. The puffed sleeves rise above the shoulders.
